Piccolo "CNC"

Tom,

Do you have any PCBs and DigiKey parts left?

I’m building a Piccolo with the help of the Victoria MakerSpace (so I have the laser cut bits and servos already).

I was going to just build a hackish external board but noticed the VHS folks were classing the idea up!

Thanks

Hi @Geoff you’ll need to talk to @RandyNW about the pcbs and the thumbwheel pots. I have 4 spare sets of Digikey parts, $2 per set as above. Would be happy to support your build, let us know.

I’m waiting for build night to pick up my parts, I paid for the servos
already

The second set of servos shows as having been delivered last week while I was out of the country.

According to the spreadsheet there are still 2 unaccounted for, so you’re welcome to have one @Geoff . Still waiting for their arrival though … I believe @3bien has the pots.

For those who have the parts from Tom ( @funvill @packetbob @wander ?) I have 5 Arduinos so if you’d like one right away let me know. In theory I should be getting both pcb’s and cpu’s by the end of the week, but ???

I’ll take 1 (or 2 if you have spares) …

Superb!

Another fellow in Victoria is making one as well.
I’d actually take two if you can spare them (though even just one is great).

As to actually getting them once they arrive; I could paypal or interac email the funds if you were able to mail me the PCB(s) and parts. Alternatively I can swing by and get them in the greater Vancouver area on my next trip over but I’m not presently sure when that would be.

Thanks most kindly for your willingness to share the bits.

I have relatives on the island, I’ll try to keep an eye on a chance to get them to you.

Sounds super thanks Tom.

Hi Randy,

I wouldn’t mind reserving one of the Arduino I ordered, just to ensure I
have as complete a set of parts as possible. But we haven’t even scheduled
the build night, so we’ll see I guess.

Cheers!

OK, I put you down for two, and that has all the pcb’s accounted for.

(Until the next round …)

Hi, According to the spreadsheet, there are only 19 kits accounted for, if that is the case, I would like to grab the 20th kit. So 1xElectronic parts kit @TomKeddie ($2?), 1xPCB @RandyNW ($3?), @jon Do you have any extra servos or potentiometers? @RandyNW Do you have any extra Arduinos?

I’ll be at VHS on Tuesday the 27th if any of you want to deliver parts then. I’ll bring cash.

Would this kind of low friction tape help with the friction surfaces? Low Friction Tape at Lee Valley tools

Thursdays I have a class in the evenings, so I would prefer a different week day for the assembly nights. May I suggest Tuesdays?

Thanks!

Hector

Darn, just saw that the last PCB was just sold 4 minutes before I posted … I guess I’m on my own for all the parts? (Assuming @TomKeddie, @RandyNW and @jon only ordered enough parts for 20 kits)

I’m planning to come down to VHS tomorrow night (Tue) around 7:30, I’ll bring the Arduinos I have. If anyone else would like to get one in advance see you there or else message me and I can leave one in the dropbox.

The bulk of the Arduinos should be here this week or next, and I think we are pencilled in for an electronics build on Thur Feb 4th. I am still waiting on both the pcb’s and the cpu’s but the odd’s are that both should be here by the 4th.

I was planning to hold off on building my second piccolo anyway, if you like I can sell you that pcb and the three servos. Other parts will be available, as you say we have enough for 20 sets.

Cool, @RandyNW how much did you need per Arduino? Also, how long is our
servo supplier (@jon) out of the country?

@RandyNW That would be awesome! Thank you! I’ll be there tomorrow

Tuesdays are open nights, so the space is going to be busy with visitors; I
don’t know if that’s the best night for a large group of people to get
together and build something.

@Andrew_Hendriks True, however, we have to think about marketing VHS to the guests, if they come on Open Tuesdays and they see a busy hackspace building cool toys, I would think that would make them more interested in joining up.

I bought enough servos for the 17 kits for which I was already paid, plus 3 spare servos (the “hobbyking quality control” holdback). This was included in the pricing.

If we don’t need to dip into the reserves, there will be one kit worth of spares, but we don’t want to pre-allocate those.

@wander- I got back saturday, the second box showed up while I was away.
