Wiring layout at Cook St

And don’t forget insurance problems in case of a claim.

Bump.

Is anybody willing to take point on this?

I can take point on this. When do we have access to the space.

Thanks, Paul.

Worst-case scenario, we have access January 1st.

Best case, we get some news early next week.

Although the lathe can be wired to run at 110, it will work better on 3-phase (more efficient power-wise, if nothing else). Having 3 phase pre-wired would also prevent the condrum we had of having to refuse new equipment simply because power is not available.

For the correct outlet location yes, but choosing the location without a specific piece of equipment in mind is a bit of a lottery.

My experience from previous shop wiring, assuming power tools.

Split all 15A 110V plugs, 20A 110 plugs is not required or advisable for hand tools.

From my previous experience, it is actually a good idea to have twice as many plugs for machine tools as needed.

Hi @sIGNgUY,

So it looks like our worst-case was one happened in terms of moving.

We’ll be able to start setting up the place starting January 1st.

I’m going to be out of town, as will @laftho, I believe. I assume one of the directors that have contact with the realtor will be able to get access ( @JohnC @ccudahy).

Now that the time pressure is off of us, I don’t expect us to have a move-in date immediately, so it’s a great time to start wiring, putting up shelving, etc.
(Note to move-out crew for tomorrow: maybe make sure the pallets with shelving are loaded into the warehouse last)

I will be back in town around the 6th, so if nobody has assumed move-in duties, I will do that soon after.

I will speak to the electrician about meeting with the available directors
and interested members for the first week in January.

Hey,

Getting this done ASAP now would be awesome. The key situation is good now,
so literally any time that is convenient can be made to work.

I will see if the electrician is available to come to the space tomorrow…

One of the other Steves used a volt tester

To test for outlets behind the mirrors.
None where detected. No need to take down the mirrors.

I don’t know of such matters so I am asking to learn, not to question/doubt. Would it detect an outlet whose breaker was thrown? Presumably they would have had the foresight to cut power to the outlets before mounting a mirror over them, no?

Sorry if that’s a stupid question, and I don’t mean to derail the thread

It would not. I also am not sure if it would detect through the metal backing of a mirror.

Thanks, I sent you my contact details. I’m only 20 min away from the space during the day so I can get him access anytime.

On another note, Bernard the property manager suspect the grey box on the top left of the mirror wall carries 220v

Electrician wants to get into the space at 630pm. Can we get access and any
electric specific/interested members should try and get there at that time.

Won’t be a problem, i’ll meet him and whoever else there. What’s his name?

So I was at the space from 6:15 - 7 and no one came. No answer on @sIGNgUY’s phone either.

My apologies. Electrician changed the time and date to today at 430pm which
was kind of a good thing cause I caught some sort of stomach bug that wiped
me out ND I fell asleep mid afternoon. Can you meet us at the spa e at 430
today?

Problem, we have covered most of the walls with stuff. It’s going to be
hard to get a good look at the walls. The electrical room is free and
unencumbered…

It’s still a good idea for him to show up
