Who is the primary contact on the find-a-new-space committee?
Sorry for the delay, i can skype you through the de-construction of the room when you are free⦠and yes the cassette door should be removed to get the cutter outā¦
Iāve had a chat with Funvill and he will be taking point on the laser cutter room demolition. He should be down at the space at 8pm to start the process. Care needs to be taken with the cutter as the laser tube is still within but it will be removed before shipping. DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING ON TOP OF THE LASER UNIT the plastic windows are fragile and need to stay as unscratched as possible. If you have any questions about the cutter feel free to PM me or reply to the thread.
I would love to be down there to help you guys but I am on baby duty atm⦠Awesome! work to everyone that has helped with packing the space up.

I, for one, am willing to come down with a wrecking bar after the 17th and DESTROY THAT WALL.
The door is removed and stowed behind the arcade machine.
The laser cutter and all itās parts are just outside the machine shop. DO NOT STACK ANYTHING on top of them, as the sign says. Not even as a joke, Ty. The laser tube is still inside and (afaik) wired.
Please donāt just start smashing the drywall at random. We were able to pop the screws off the panels and keep them almost completely intact. You can too = less cleanup.
The tube is still in and wired⦠Thanks for the notice @iMakeRobots and the heads up with the door, we can use this at the next space ![]()
Nice work guys!
We should also be able to remove the Laser window and double doors as part of the main wall deconstruction they should be fairly easy to dissemble but you may want to screw a plank to the bottom of the double doors before you remove them so the frame is rigid.
*On a side note, the extension lead needs to be de-wired from the fluorescent lights on the roof, but you might want to keep that in until after you take the wall down. ![]()
We knocked down one of the walls of the laser room, took out the laser and knocked down the roof.
Thanks: @funvill, @TyIsI, Chris, @Janet @iMakeRobots
I realized that I just donāt know a lot about how to demo a wall or roof.
Iām going to watch more youtube videos and try again.
Nice work guys!
And donāt forget taking down that dirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrty drum down with the help of Arti andā¦???
Apply more logic? Also, gravity helps!
Shower here I come!
Also, @Daniel_DeGagne, are you proud of me? I wore all kinds of protection! Iāll also wear high-vis-vest and work boots next time! ![]()
The Cook street location has less square footage and lower ceilings. correct? So⦠are we going to experience a literal stack overflow when the pallets of stuff arrive?
Perhaps the benches should be the first thing to arrive in the new location so they can get set up before the contents of the benches get in the way.
Hi,
Can someone (with a truck) give me a hand grabbing the pallet jack today?
Iāll be at the bunker around 5-6pm(@SDY ?)
We did kinda steal that from you without a way to return it eh? Think we can fit it into a smart car?
I can likely be āguy with truckā for the jack again. It really did save the day, the space is pretty well organized now. @Jarrett, do you live closer to the bunker or where I got the palletjack from?
We are going to need one again to do the next part of the move. We could also probably use something to help with finishing packing the workshop. I still like the idea of buying one and selling it after, but alas.
I live in Burnaby. Talking to Stephen right now, hold tight. It doesnāt need to be done today, no one has mentioned it going missing yet.
I can do it tomorrow but iāll need to know by tomorrow morning so I can take the larger car to work.
Iām coming by with the engine hoist tomorrow after work. I can pick it up then if need be. Let me know. Iām coming by anyway, so you can fall back on me if need be.
I brought in some cheap masks to help with the drywall dust. It was still really dusty. Whoever is taking down the big wall should definitely have some sort of N95-rated mask to wear. Even better would be a full respirator-style mask. Also lab goggles. ![]()
Whatās the schedule for packing up the bunker tomorrow?
