No immediate action needed; this is just a list of notes for how the lathe came apart for when we put it back together.
All of the lathe parts are on one of 4 pallets
- The main lathe body is strapped to a pallet
- The heavy chunks of lathe parts are all blocked onto a pallet (carriage, motor, tailstock, etc)
- The lathe tooling + associated bits are in a grey bin with the table saw
- The lathe lubricants / etc are in a box on the cabinet of doom (chemicals cabinet) pallet
Dissassembly notes (in disassembly order)
- Removed feed rod and lead screw
- Feed rod held on by two allen keys; backed off and rod slid out through bracket at right of lathe
- shaft collar on feed rod removed
- lead screw held on by brass-shear pin. Shear pin tapped out
- lead screw/feed rod wrapped in shrink wrap and clamped (loosely) to pallet
- shaft collar and brass pin bagged and attached to shafts on pallet.
- Feed rod held on by two allen keys; backed off and rod slid out through bracket at right of lathe
- Removed carriage (watch out its full of oil)
- shaft end bracket needs to come off to remove carriage, it was put back on the lathe body
- Disconnected forward-reverse switch ( I have pics of the wiring)
- Hardware put back on forward-reverse switch. Switch is on pallet with major parts.
- Removed motor (held on by two bolts + shaft with cotter pins)
- hardware all put back on lathe
