Baltic Birch Plywood Group Buy

Hey everyone, just been comparing pricing on baltic birch plywood for laser cutting, and it looks like Smith Plywoods in Maple Ridge is by far the cheapest. Transportation is always the biggest limiting factor though, so I am proposing a group buy.

The cost of delivery is a flat rate of $140, which will be divided evenly among everyone on a per-sheet basis. ETA is next Thursday, June 13.

I am interested, although what’s the storage outlook if I buy a few sheets? Similar to the wood shop of label and use efficiently?

yeah 3mm and 6mm ply are thin enough that it doesn’t take up much space at all.

If there is demand for less than ~30mm worth of material, I could do a pickup with my vehicle and save on delivery

Just get @jim to pick it up on his motorbike.

If this is all going to be stored at VHS, may I ask that everyone participating each takes 30min to clean and organize the laser storage and scraps. It’s a bit of a disaster area that I chip away at once a month or so.

Break down and throw out unusable off cuts. For stuff that is years out of date and abandoned, use your best judgement. If it’s over 3 years old, or if I know the person is no longer a member I usually just unlabel it and mark it free (or toss if it’s unusable).

That’s a great idea

Sorry was out of town and just saw this thread, but we would be interested in 2 sheets of 3mm if that is still an option at this time. If not, no worries and thanks for organizing this. We’d be interested in future orders like this (and for other materials), too!

Sure. I will place the order tomorrow morning.

Looks like we’re at 27 sheets total, so everyone please add $5.19/sheet plus tax to your e-transfers. Also everyone please send me your e-transfers for your plywood to john.c.craver@gmail.com. thanks!

Hey everyone, the order has been placed and will be arriving at VHS tomorrow morning around 10:00-ish Here are the totals for everyone. I will hold your plywood hostage until you send me your e-transfer. Thanks!

Sent! Thank you!

Sent. Thanks for setting this up. I should be in around 10am Thursday to help with the delivery.

Everyone, please let me know asap whether or not you are ok with having your plywood cut into four 30"x30" sheets to fit in the laser cutter. This will make the sheets easier to store.

Yes please! I plan on lasering my name into my stock before using it

Is that the largest size that will fit in the laser cutter?

Great idea

I would prefer full sheets
(if necessary for storage: ripped in half, but definitely not quartered please :pray::pray:)
