Air Compressors @ The Space?

Does anyone know the status of the air compressors at the Space. I noticed two of them. A small “pancake” style that is stuffed on a shelf by the CNC mill and a larger one on wheels near the lathe.

I’m an upcoming workshop I would like to use air for a solder paste dispenser. I’ll have my own hoses and expect to keep the compressor in the back near the boiler room door to keep the noise down. Air use is minimal so I don’t expect it to cycle on more than once or twice during an evening…

Any caveats/etc for using a compressor?

Which workshop and when?

I think I would be interested, but I am only in Vancouver on weekends.

The big rolling one was powered up briefly on Saturday. I think @TyIsI was blowing out a keyboard or something like that? He may know.

The need I have is for the Bus Pirate workshop (Monday March 2nd) so we can try solder paste and a SMD toaster reflow oven. @TomKeddie has lent me his air powered solder paste dispenser and it makes applying the solder paste much easier than squeezing the syringe… I’ll check them both out Tuesday night but figured I’d check and see if anyone knew…

Some very important information when you’re done using the air compressors: water can condense inside the compressor vessel and cause it to rust over time. There is a drain valve in the bottom that you must open up to empty out the water before you put the compressor away.

The blue compressor (which I donated to VHS) is nice because it has a digital pressure regulator, which makes it easy to punch in an exact-ish pressure. Just remember to crack the drain valve open when you’re done with it.

I know nothing!

It was briefly in 105 on Sat, but I think it got brought back into 104 for/after clean up.

Intoxicated Ty may have accidentally forgotten to do this…

@packetbob I can lend you a long hose, they’re as loud as you would expect…
