VHS Workshop Supplies

After doing the Arduino 1-Wire Sensor workshop, I realized that we need some supplies for doing workshops: mostly breadboards. These small breadboards are on sale right now for ~$5 at Sparkfun, and I’m thinking of picking up 10 or so.

Are there any other things I should pick up that would help running Arduino workshops? I’d like to keep the order under $100 if possible, $150 max.

The solderless breadboards are a great idea. To make things quick and easy,
perhaps some jumpers like these?

The combination of a solderless breadboard jumper and alligator clip would
have been great to get people quickly working.

For cases where people bring in other form factors like LilyPad Arduinos,
mini alligator clips without teeth might work well.

tl;dr solderless breadboard jumpers suggested.

@seanhagen if you’re expecting reimbursement please get directors approval.

I personally hate breadboards they make a good connection for about 2 uses and are dubious from then on - wave your hand and the micro resets.

If you’re ordering from sparkfun and don’t mind, I’d like a few things. Am good for my share of taxes/shipping etc.

Better sizes at cheaper prices:

I’d say boards and jumpers for sure. I’ll pitch in. I also recommend Ali or DX. I have several half-sized breadbards from DX that I keep various projects on while I tinker. I’d also recommend some rainbow cables in M/F and M/M format like these. Basically breadboard jumpers where you peel off the quantity needed since 2-wire and 3-wire connectors are fairly common.

If you start a Tilt for it, I’ll throw in a few bucks to help offset the cost.

First things first:

Does anybody have a cache of breadboards they want to donate to the space?

I know some places like UBC make all students in vaguely-related fields buy
kits (including the Magic Box) that they will never use again.
