VHS Equipment Review - Woodshop Tool Shelves

This one’s an appeal: if you’re a regular user of the woodshop, can you comment on the tools shown in this photo?

For example, it looks like we have two scroll saws. Are either of them working and in use?

What state is the miter saw in? Last I heard the blade guard was broken.

What’s the large black lumpy thing on the top of the shelving? Is that a personal project that should go to its creator’s home?

How many routers do we have vs how many working routers do we have (I suspect only one is broken, but maybe good to address)

Is that a torch I see? We should probably have a flammables locker; at minimum, not store it in an area likely to get dusty.

@Gibbtall any update to the disc sander in the top-left corner?

I’d have to dig it up, but someone said they were going to do a class on scroll-saw use. There was also a thread on needing a blade; but I think it was purchased (but those might have been personal blades)

I need to buy or make a coupler to attach the disks to the motor. @Emerson said he’d be up to machining one for me. @mike do you know the specs for the threads on those lathe plates? Also where I should go online to buy a couple more?

If you’re talking about faceplates for the lathe, those are readily available at KMS Tools or Busybee Tools.

Meter saw in a good conditions. I don’t remember having issues with a blade guard.

Mitre saw needs a new thumb button, but the 3d printed one is doing well, I had identified the part number and it was the sort of thing that is cheaper than shipping. Someone said they’d order but never happened. A quick search of the model number on google found it.

Guard might be cracked if I remember but is functional. We should consider any new one coming in, but this saw is in decent condition (save the plastic thumb button replacement) and we should get plenty of life out of it.

We should validate the blade is sharp and clean. Would be worth doing a scrub on all the blades in the shop.
