Hello all. (This is not my project.)
It’s something I discovered last night while visiting the Tuesday Night Open House.
About me: I’m a multimedia artist, writer, and filmmaker, who works in the film industry (Props). My interest in VHS is to share a learning experience with my 12 year old son and my 12 year old nephew, as I experiment with different props building projects and techniques. I’m going to be a new member (as soon as my budget allows for it). In the meantime I’ll drop by on Tuesdays to get to know the gang.
Last night I found the VHS Blinky Badges and would love to show my 12 year old nephew how to solder it together next Tuesday. I’m excited to show him the space.
I’m looking for a schematic, or wiring diagram, or a link to a wiki.
It looks like a well designed pcb with parts, and I was told there might be instructions somewhere.
If anyone has a link, that would be appreciated.
Otherwise, I’d be happy to make some kind of instructional video for it.
Hey Buck - Sounds fun! Your son and nephew are very welcome at the space. There should be some ready to go full colour laminated instructions showing what goes where designed for people of all ages.
There are a bunch of these as we used to build these badges at events and makerfaires. You’ll be engaging in a very old hackspace tradition of teaching soldering and there have been many iterations of the board over the years.
The laminated sheets probably live in the electronics area under the benches in a box on the floor. There may also be a one page version of the How to Solder Comic which is handy. I will also have a poke around before next Tuesday if you don’t beat me to it first.
We also have some tip cleaner somewhere in a shoebox in the electronics area which might help spruce up the irons a bit.

To clarify…I was referring to the physical printed versions of the one pager how to solder comic we have at the space. They should be in the box as well. Thanks for posting the link though.
Thank you Janet.
Last Tuesday, I found the box above the center workbench with the Kits inside. Each kit is in a small ziplock. There were no instructions in the same box.
These were so popular when we did Mini Maker Faire and still popular during Commercial Drive car free days.
Everyone from young kids to adults made them and there was always smiles all around.
I’m sure we have trained 100s of people to solder. Youngest I ever taught was a 6 year old girl but I’m sure there are younger kids getting into it with parents.
