Types of linkages

In general what at the types of linkages and their movement characteristics?

Specifically I am looking for a linkage that will give roll, pitch and yaw, and lift, but NO lateral movement.

The simple solution is to use 3 separate joints.
A roll joint, a pitch joint and a yaw joint. These 3 movements will happen continuously.

And mount the whole thing on a sliding lift. Lift will only happen when there is relatively low lateral force applied. But in general I don’t like sliding joints, because they tend to jam when high lateral forces are applied.

This needs to be a very strong construction.

What other linkages might work for this application?

What is the application?

A vehicle coupling linkage.

I doubt I will build this full scale personally. This a pet design I am
putting together. I am designing a skid steer tractor with rocking beam
suspension. The tractor by itself is not stable. It gains stability through
the coupling linkage to the trailer. As result the coupling linkage needs
to control pitch / row and yaw. Lift is used to attach and lift the trailer.

My first candidate for the coupling is a modified fifth wheel with a
locking tab to prevent independent yaw after coupling.
