Made with the VHS laser cutter, This is a the Untztrument trellis midi kit from Adafruit that I picked up during @miststlkr group buy. I still need to put a brain in it and wire up the LEDS but it looks and feels pretty awesome. This is another midi controller like the arcade button one from day 3. I will be using it to control the lighting effects on the dome wirelessly. This controllers is for me while the arcade button one is for everyone else. #laser #lasercutter #acrylic #buttons #arduino

First attempts at the Fairy doors for the upcoming Fairy door workshop at VHS. I kind of like the round hobbit door but the other two are rejects. I am hoping to have about 5 different door designs for people to choose from. Back to the drawing board.

This is a test cut for one of the panels of the pocket universe dome. I like this one and it seem to hold together well. #laser #lasercutter #wood #sculpture #geometry These panels will be cut 6 feet tall on the Shopbot at Maker labs. I am doing test cut on VHS’s laser first to find the ones I like.

This is a test of different polyhedron shapes. I’m planning on making twelve different shapes. Then cutting patterns into the faces of these shapes and adding LEDs to make lanterns. (similar to the panels for the dome project above). Then hang them all like a chandler or mobile. Eventually these will be made out of laser cut wood.

This is a test cut of a panel for the pocket universe project. Each hole is the size of a arcade button. I like it but I want change half of them to LEDs so when you press a button it changes a color of LED on the same panel. Still thinking about this.

A failed design for the pocket universe project. I was trying to see if a maze would work for one of the panels. The problem is that the maze paths are only connected to the size at one point. It becomes to flimsy and would probably break.

Got the LEDs and the brains working in the Untztrument trellis midi kit I from Adafruit and started in day 4. It works! This thing is a lot of fun to play with.

Got the Arcade button midi control from day 3 wired up and working. This makes a lot of noise when pressing the buttons but its FUN and you can really hammer on the buttons without breaking anything. 4 hours of crimping, soldering, coding, mapping, debugging. Arcade button midi controller with a teensy.
