Hey sourdough peeps…I hear a lot of people out there have been making their own sourdough bbread during this covid epidemic, which is actually quite amazing.

Is everyone okay with me making this thread public? (right now it’s in members only). It would be great if we could help anyone trying to get going with sourdough…we may not be able to share starter but we have some great recipes and also a few instructions for how to make your own.

Also if you’d rather this content remain members-only, no problem, just pm me.Thanks!

I am so happy that sourdough is taking over the world. I’ve been baking regularly, let’s keep this ball rolling! Post your loaves!

That looks soooo good. I love the rings on it from your proofing basket. Must. Bake. Tomorrow.

Proofing baskets really improve the process, they’re easier to slash and keep a nice shape. Tip: dust it with rice flour and it won’t get sticky.

The loaf above was over-proofed so not much oven spring action, I think I’m getting lazy with it.

I’ve just been proofing mine in an old sieve…could definitely be better. I’m lazier than you lol lately been only baking focaccia bread.

Those look amazing! What did you use to make them?

I used the Pamela’s All-purpose Gluten-free flour that Save-on carries in this recipe: Gluten Free Pretzels | Soft Auntie Ann's Style

I threw a little bit of molasses into the baking soda bath to help with the browning.

They actually turned out really well. A little denser than you’d get out of a conventional flour, but otherwise the texture and flavour was bang-on. I’m thinking that this might be able to be adapted into a sourdough recipe if I can make myself a GF starter.

Nice! They look really good. I’d love to see you come up with a GF starter.

I have a number of flours and starches to experiment with… science!

Soo just started and this was second attempt at my sourdough and dam if it didnt turn out fantastic. Dont have a proofing basket but tupper ware has worked fine. For baking I’m using my slowcooker stone insert in the oven with a baking pan on top. Works great.
