Solidworks License key found

Good news everyone!

I’ve recovered the Solidworks license!
What I had to do was:

  1. Open up the backup image I had made of the solidworks machine, which is still fully intact in case anyone wanted to know.
  2. do a search for “SolidWorks” in C:/windows/system32/config/SOFTWARE on the backup image (which is where the windows registry is kept).
  3. Find the license key, and shove it into the current machine via regedit.exe
  4. register the license, and BAM, it activated!

I have the license key in case anyone needs it in the future.

@toma also enabled RDP:

Just so everyone knows, if you have VPN access you can now RDP into the solidworks machine. 172.16.0.57 is it’s ip address ( solidworks.cook.vanhack.ca points to 172.16.0.57). The VPN is the same one we had at the bunker, just a different IP address

So now you can Remote Desktop into the SW computer from home! And design all of your stuff!

Thanks @Jarrett
Concurrent RDP sessions have be enabled as well, so you won’t kick off anyone who is logged into that machine.

Yay!  Tom you're on my list of people I need to buy beer for.  If I am ever able to make it down to the space for more than 15 minutes at a time I'll be sure to bring a case :)

toma ++ awesome

So I compared the benchmarks I took to other machines and it’s still pretty decent. Shouldn’t run into any performance issues, thats for sure.

Tom. Good one.

I’ve recovered the Solidworks license!

And there was much rejoicing!
