Just came across this article published today in the Ottawa Business Journal. Makerspace North, along with all of their sub-tenants, are being evicted with 2 weeks notice due to “significant rental arrears”.

I mostly feel bad for their sub-tenants who have been paying their rent, had no warning, and now have less then 2 weeks to vacate.

oh man… that sucks. wonder what the reason was that they didnt use the money to pay the landlord

I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost members/groups due to covid and couldn’t make it back to being profitable again. It’ll be interesting to learn more. Tough times for creative spaces indeed and this seemed like a good model.
