Powering up metal lathe

Hi,
I have noticed that somebody WHO? started working on powering up metal lathe but did not finish obviously. I see that we have 2 220V/60Hz sockets near laser cutter. Are those powered up? 220 sockets are different - do we have matching plugs somewhere at the space? If not perhaps I can get some.

@rsim is working on it atm. It is almost complete.

The 220 sockets are powered. I don’t know about plugs.

Yep, I’m going to try to get down to the space tonight to finish up the job! I’ve also been giving it a good deep-cleaning/re-lube as it’s been coated in wood dust, gunking everything up. :frowning: I’ll also be seeing what I do to true up and align the headstock/bed/tailstock.

Maybe someone could make a cover for it? Please?

This is the most likely course we’ll take with it - but it’d be a good idea to get proper dust solution for the workshop, as we need to cover its tooling and accessories also (along with every other machine). In my experience, often covers are forgotten to be used, and it just takes one person not to notice/care to cover a machine or tooling before cutting/sanding to require re-cleaning everything.

It would require the group to monitor. But even in my shop, the machines
get dust all over them, and we aren’t a wood shop!

Perhaps we can find or make something to level it properly. Richard is
right - base twists and bends under its own weight if not levelled properly
and that can create problems if you work on longer, bigger parts.
