Portable Bluetooth Speaker update

“Charger circuit” is a dead link, is there an updated listing?

@Arrgh: Split this off as a new topic because I’m trying to figure out how to deal with replies to long-quiet topics, not because there’s anything wrong with your post.

Paging @Lukeo for Charger Circuit recommendations

After I asked the question, I noticed that @iMakeRobots’s blog post includes a link to https://www.marginallyclever.com/product/usb-power-bank-case/ which contains such a circuit, as well as a nice battery box to do with as you please.

I’d like to do this! @lukeo do you remember what dimensions you used in the PS file, and how you rendered it into a static vector?

Any updated recommendations on stuff-to-buy?

Also, @iMakeRobots, your description for the 18650 battery on your site should indicate whether or not it has a protection circuit built-in.

I don’t know. does it?

I can’t say without more info about the manufacturer etc., but this one looks similar and claims to have a protection circuit?

I don’t mean to be a jerk about this, but there are real safety concerns about Li-Ion and LiPo batteries… This project in particular would be going inside the house, as opposed to the garage, where I’m more OK with the risks of spontaneous evil spirit leakage.

Tdwebste - both pics look the same to me. I will contact the battery OEM
and ask them to confirm with us.
Do you have a way to check yourself? I can bring one to VHS on thursday.

@Arrgh yes they have protection. it’s written on the battery. I’ll take a photo later today, I have a broken SQL query to fix first.

Thanks Dan!

With the 18650 they are pretty safe i over heated one soldering it together, heated it too long and it had a thermal runaway but it was all contained inside the battery casing, while it melted the plastic cover and just left a bare metal battery by the end of it.

As for the laser cut file I’ll attach it here. I can’t seem to find it on my computer but know still have it on the laser computer. So i’ll put it up when i can.

Thanks, Luke
