Planning on an advanced laser cutting talk. what should be in it?

I am considering running a advanced laser cuter talk at VHS. This would be a talk not a workshop and mostly consists of me doing slides and showing examples.

What kind of topics would you like to see?

Here is what i have so far

  • Laser cutting a box
  • Tools
    • Inkscape
    • Fusion 360
  • Using a unfocused laser beam
  • Removing scorch marks
  • Image to vector
  • Dithering images and engraving
  • Paper Craft on the laser, cutting folds/scores with lasers
  • Two sided designs (challenge coins)
  • Living hinges
  • Gears
  • Creating a test patterns

Added

  • Gluing and welding laser cut parts together
  • Kerf and clearance for joints
  • Different laser cuttable joints

Great idea. I would be interested in the gears, unfocused beam, cleaning/avoiding scorches, folding scores, etc.

Less interested in general image manipulation as that is covered well elsewhere.

Maybe the boxmaker extension in Inkscape, talk about kerf, different types of joints, ways to attach your projects (welding acrylic, gluing wood, etc)

I’d be interested in dithering images and efficient workflows for image to
vector (although you covered that in a relatively recent talk I think).

Looking forward to this…especially the scorch mark removal.
