The directors recieved a note from BC Hydro informing us of an upcoming power outage scheduled for November 14th. A pole replacement will be taking place and this will be the first of two planned power outages and the work should be complete by the end of the business day. Attached is a copy of the email notice we have recieved.

This date also happens to fall JUST before Culture Crawl is expected to start and the artists reconfigure the space. The time while less than ideal is expected to finish up before the crawl starts but the artists participating will need to make some alternate plans in relation to when setting up the space will occur.
I will be trying to contact BC hydro tomorrow and see if we can get the work done on an alternate day instead (Monday November 18th is what i will propose). According to the following article they may try to find alternate days if there is a community event or celebration planned. Culture Crawl does sort of fit that description.
For now we should plan ahead for at least two power outages. This includes a planned shutdown of VHS critical infrasturcture the morning of November 14th and bringing stuff online once work has completed. Setting up for culture crawl in the dark or the day before. And figuring out some emergency lighting for those who will more than likely be floating in the space while preparations for Culture Crawl are happening. I’m running on the assumption on the date they scheduled is fixed in stone until we are told otherwise.
