Piccolo "CNC"

I think there are 6 pcb’s left to claim from the 20, the pots will have the same count. Arduino’s I will wait until after the weekend, and I’ll sum up the list of whose getting what by the weekend. Some people already have them, if anyone else already has an Arduino let me know. What I’ve ordered is cheap, so no worry about paying in advance.

@jon maybe you also want to post a list before you order to make sure we’ve got everybody?

Also, email transfer for 2 sets of servos, sent to @jon

I’m hoping to use my homemade Makey Makey in full Arduino mode to run the Piccolo. If that doesn’t work out I’ll need to pick up an Arduino.

I have the other parts from the Digikey order. The switches were 46c (need 2), the caps were 24c (need 3) and the 2mm header 0.14c. I have tons of 0.1" headers so will throw in the servo connectors free.

was 0.46+0.243+0.14=1.321.12=1.47 (so $1.50 each).

is 20.46+0.243+0.14= 1.99 (so $2 each).

Please look at the assembly instructions, they want you to solder the micro directly to the pcb, don’t put headers on your micro Piccolo Assembly Instructions · DiatomStudio/Piccolo Wiki · GitHub

First round of pcbs are in, they look good.

This thread is getting confusing.

I think we need one person to organize this and a few people to help with the build nights.
I will help with the laser cut parts and I can organize the materials for that

From the sounds of it @TomKeddie has ordered and received the PCB boards, and is also willing to run the electronics build night. And @jon is buying the servos.

Can we pay @jon for everything including the eletronics and PCB and laser cut materials. Then he can order the servos and give the appropriate cash to @TomKeddie for the PCB boards and electronics? I would much rather pay one person and for everything then to track down multiple people.

Also @jon You might want to consider using event bright for collecting money for these kind of workshops. (The user can pays the eventbright fees)

Actually I think we’re pretty organized, it’s probably good to summarize where we’re at.

We have 20 pcb’s ordered. So far I count 16 spoken for, they are:

One each for @tomkeddie @wander @3bien @lukecyca @jarrett @mkobie @jon_slaco @Janet @sIGNgUY @johnbiehler @jon @funvill and 2 each for @packetbob @RandyNW

Servo’s are being ordered by @jon

Most of the small electronics parts have been ordered by @TomKeddie , thumbwheels by @3bien - these were ordered sufficient to make 20 sets.

I’m going to order Arduino Pro Micro’s from AliExpress. The list I have is:

One each for @3bien @lukecyca @jarrett @mkobie @jon_slaco @sIGNgUY @jon @funvill @johnbiehler , @Janet is maybe
2 each for @RandyNW @wander and 3 for @packetbob

If people could let me know about the Arduino’s, if my list is incorrect (ie maybe you have one, or plan to interface the Piccolo differently). I’ll order them mid-week, they should get here in 2-3 weeks.

The next big piece is the laser cut and materials. I have some questions about that but I’ll save that for later, we probably won’t be doing that for a while.

Thanks for the summary, Randy!

Please put me down for 2 sets - two Arduinos @RandyNW, two sets of servos @jon.

I’ll also need need 2 PCBs now…so as of this post that brings the PCB total to 17 accounted for?

I don’t need an Arduino or servos.

Just sent $ to @jon for 2 sets of servos.

Thanks for gathering all the scattered info Randy. The 20 thumbwheels just
arrived, money to be collected by @jon together with the servos. I’m not
sure if you want money in advance for the arduinos, let me know.

Please add me to the arduino order. Thanks!

Thanks. This will be my first VHS project—I’m really looking forward to it.

@RandyNW: Please put me down for TWO arduinos. I would like to have a spare.

Mark me down for a full kit as well: PCB @tomkeddie , parts, servos @jon and Arduino x 2 @RandyNW

@interlock, Cool! @RandyNW pls allocate a pcb to @interlock, the servos are pre-paid due to the cost, date has been extended afaik. I have discrete parts for every pcb. You might need to order your own micro.

I made a google sheet that can be used to track who is getting what. I’ll fill in what I can derive from the discussion so far.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FuQxmK7uvJZy7hs4ne0wKeiNJpaOp-jPbym4TYrVwjg/edit#gid=0

I’m not sure who paid for what already, so I think these members need to update the sheet:
@RandyNW @jon @TomKeddie @3bien

Thanks @interlock, updated your sheet from my tracking one.

I’m currently sitting at 15 17 ordered, one person ( @Jarrett) not wanting servos, and two ( @interlock and @sIGNgUY) who have said they want servos, but haven’t sent money yet. (or payment hasn’t arrived yet - can take a few hours…)

Thanks @jon. My payment is on the way.

A added a tab to the sheet with instructions for payment, it took a little searching to figure out how @jon wanted to be paid. Feel free to add any notes on how to accept payment for each parts stream in the document.

In retrospect, this may of made more sense as a wiki entry than a Google Doc. I just jumped at what I was familiar with.

Jon

I would like the required servos. Can you post the link and payment info
again. Thanks Paul
