I’ve been playing around with Blender and came across the Export Paper Model add-on so I thought I’d give it a shot. It’s not too hard to install and run.
Here are some pictures of the results
After exporting the paper model from blender as scalable vector graphic I printed and cut it out using a die cutting machine. The speed was a little fast and blade pressure was a little high so there was some minimal tearing in the paper.
For the most part just peeled the cut bits off the mat. No problems with the tiny tabs which was a relief as cutting this by hand is almost impossible at this size For some reason the text got lost between Inkscape editing and my die cutting software so I wrote all the identifying details in by hand after.
Now glueing up the bits and pieces
More assembly
Top middle and bottom ready to be glued together
Almost done
The paper model compared with the original 3D Blender model.
Finally assembled and resting on a paper craft cube which was my first experiment.
Looking forward to building larger models.
