We will be organizing a VHS memorial evening on Saturday May 10th for @Omid starting at 5pm. Its a bit short notice but we hope you can attend. If you can’t make this one i think we’ll have a future event in a few weeks too where Omid’s Friends and Family are more likely to attend.
I’m pretty sure there will be some ice cream and cookies for sure but I’m suggesting we do this pot luck style. Leave a note here with what you might want to bring in. /edit - feel free to drop in anyways if you don’t bring anything in.
Omid was always dressed to be seen so do consider this as a great way to remember our friend.
I would like this very much. If it is agreeable to the group I would like to attempt a classic Iranian dish, as for me it would be a lovely reminder of talking with Omid about the food we each loved to cook and eat.
Do we have cups or small bowls, spoons, if it ends up being a stew-type dish? Unless I’m the only savoury option, in which case I’ll pivot to a rice pudding style dish. Don’t want only one savoury option, that’d be weird.
I will gladly join you in the savory dish option. One of my Iranian neighbours let me take some photos from a translated cookbook, so if you’d like to take a browse through that, let me know. I’m sure we can make bowls happen one way or the other.
Omid’s love of ice cream would be hard to match…however I am sure that our community is up to the challenge!
To this end, I will be bringing my liquid nitrogen dewar with 10 litres of liquid nitrogen to facilitate people making their own unique ice cream recipes.
The beauty of this is that it allows one to use any ingredients including booze and one can be certain that the mixture will freeze properly for a perfect ice cream. My favourite is cream/maple syrup/whiskey.
So I invite you all to bring your own favourite or experimental ice cream recipe mixtures to try out and share.
If you have a wide mouthed stainless steel thermos please bring it as that will be ideal for mixing/freezing your own personal concoction.

I’ll be there, but I’m in the middle of moving and food prep is pretty challenging right now. If I have a chance, I’ll pick up some ice cream bars to bring along
I did a Costco run since my daughter’s birthday party is happening tomorrow earlier in the day, so I bought a bunch of food for both events and will be bringing lots of it home tonight, then returning with lots of it tomorrow.
