Hello, I am a new member. Is anyone able to provide we with a walkthrough of the woodshop tools (table saw, jointer and plainer) this evening Feb 10 or Sunday Feb 12 so that I can begin my project? Thanks

hey @Stone your best bet would be to either get in touch with @Phillip_Ma or ask on the #woodshop channel on Slack to arrange a time with one of the volunteer trainers.

Hey or other Janet. I am getting a message that my email needs to be verified when I try and log in. I assume my email need to be registered?

(The usual process is that after you sign up, youā€™re get an email from the membership coordinator so Iā€™m sure Pat is on top of this stuff.).

Hi Scott, your account has not been setup yet as I have not been able to find your e-mail message, from Step 1, that letā€™s me know which Talk ID to convert to a member account and to make sure we donā€™t have duplicate people in the system.

Those spam filters can filter messages they shouldnā€™t sometimes. Anyway, could you e-mail the Membership Co-Ordinators (Membership@VanHack.ca) again with the following info:

  • Name
  • Username on our forums. (This is so we can add you to the Members category, which is how we keep you informed about society going-ons. If you donā€™t have an account on our forums yet take this time to do so, even non-members are welcome to join.)
  • Are you a new member?
  • The name and email your PayPal* account is under.
  • Have you been a member before? If so, under what name?
  • Have you signed the waiver? (This is the Liability Waiver you should have signed the first time you entered the space, if you havenā€™t signed this yet make sure to do it first thing next time you come in)
  • Have you been given a tour of the space? (If not, make sure to request one the next time you come in)

It seems somewhat foolish but without it it can be difficult to match up names with login IDs on two different systems.

Hi Scott, Iā€™ve checked your account and have not spotted anything not configured correctly. The Talk system allows me to ā€˜impersonateā€™ you, i.e. pretend to be you. Iā€™ve done that, only because you have said you were having trouble. I have not looked at any of your messages or posts, just the menu screens.

I clicked on the hamburger icon in the upper right of my web browser to bring up the menu and the VHS-Members area was in the list of items. See the image below, Iā€™ve highlighted it. When I clicked on this menu item I was presented with the members only content that I was able to click on.

I know this is the suckyist support answer there is but ā€¦ it seems to have worked for me.

Grasping at straws here: sometimes, cookies and web browsers get stale, have you tried logging out and closing your web browser then logging back in? Assuming that this didnā€™t fix things, can you give me more info? Do you see the VHS-Members Only menu item? If so does the link not work? If it does, can you see the sub-categories? Can you get into the various conversation streams?

All good on my side. I notice that link before. I clicked on some links that other members provided and I got a message that the link was gone or I didnā€™t have access. E.g. https://talk.vanhack.ca/t/qgm-sunday-nov-13th-2022-1-00-pm/13642/10
