Even better than a “one day build”, this was a “one evening, buy nothing build” made with wood from the VHS scrap bin and screws from the VHS parts bins.
Every single one of the plastic drawer slides broke on this cheap wardrobe I have.
The carnage:
So I used the least broken one as a template to make new wood slides. They work, just don’t look too closely:
Luckily, one of the plastic pieces was still intact enough to use as a template to mark out the mounting holes.
Tada, drawers work again. I rubbed some snowboard wax on them to make them a bit smoother, although I’m not sure that did anything.
While doing this, all three of the drawers attempted to spontaneously disassemble themselves, so I guess my next project will be to re-glue them and/or introduce them to the brad nailer.
