Maple Ridge Swap Meet

I went to the Maple Ridge Ham Club swap meet this morning!

I picked up a handheld and a Uniden Force. I also picked up
a bench power supply, which I’ve been wanting to pick up for a
while. The handheld needs a new battery, and the Uniden needs some
cables and speakers ( although I think it’s meant to be mounted in a car
).

I’m going to bring them in to the Wednesday ARC meeting, and see if I
can get some tips on what I might be able to do with these ( you know,
once I’ve got my license ).

The new stuff:

Really looking forward to getting my license now so that I can play
around with this stuff!

Hi Sean

According to eHam.net, your Icom IC-24AT looks like a decent dual band (2m/70cm) HT.

The Uniden Force however is either a CB radio or a commercial comms radio. Alas I don’t think you will have much joy with that on the amateur bands.

Good luck with the exam

PS Is that a mouse trap in the corner!!?!

If the Uniden Force is a CB radio, then at least I’ll be able to play
around with it before I get my license!

I’m doing the course that Farrell is putting on at VHS on Wednesdays. A
few more weeks of studying, and it’ll be time to take the exam! Pretty
excited to get my license and get out on the airwaves.

Yeah, it’s a mouse trap – had issues with mice a few months
ago. Luckily, haven’t heard, seen, or caught any since July or so.
