Hello fellow hackers,
I am interested in making some of these to give away at Christmas. Looking at the discussion did you ever get the issue with the serial port worked out? I don’t want to order boards and find they don’t work properly. Thanks for the help!
The serial port was my fault, there aren’t enough pins. You need to use the original pcb.
I haven’t ordered panelized PCBs before. Did you use dirtypcbs for the order? Do I have to do anything special so that the edges are cut out?
@willow - if you do proceed on this and need some of the 8x8 led displays let me know as I have a few spares…
Hey Willow - I’ve used oshpark before and found them to be pretty great for
small runs.
Also the boards are a funky purple colour. 
8x8 led like this? i’m pretty sure this boils down to two shift registers, an atmega chip, the 8x8, and a power supply.
