Laser-cut Laptop Stand

I finished a project today and am really pleased with how it turned out. This is a teardrop laptop stand inspired by a design I found on thingiverse, but that I recreated from scratch to match the dimensions of my laptop and the scrap materials that were on hand at VHS.

Then I stupidly tried to bike home with this thing awkwardly dangling in a shopping bag. It got caught in the spokes, I crashed, and it smashed one side of the flexure. Very sad.

Dude, that sucks.

But you have:

  1. a viable, tested design
  2. in digital form

That can be recreated as soon as you get raw materials and access to the
laser cutter.

So, like Michael Lee Aday once said, “2 out of 3 ain’t bad.”

You do have beer. That makes everything better.

A beautiful project. Sorry about the bike accident but glad you didn’t
didn’t die. I’m glad beer is helping.

Nice

Could easily add some air holes for better ventilation, for the next version

@lukecyca feel free to use some of my plywood to recut the parts. It’s labeled Tyson. A thank you for helping me with the laser the other day!

Love the project! Have been thinking about using hinges like that for a long time.

I’m not sure which I like more: the stand or the background/wallpaper on the laptop.

I really like the laptop stand. Nice job!

@InezG We miss you! Where have you been?

Great, now this is in my head.
