A link in the footer “more…” that links to the VHS blog.
A link in the footer “Add Event” that links to VHS wiki with instructions on how to add an event… (The page might not exist, yet!?)
A link to the ical, and google cal so the events are easy to import into our own calendars. This might be solved with the microformats, I am not sure about the browser support at the moment.
A link to the github so we can do pull requests for features.
Yes, seconding dog photos and google calendar links! Looks great so far, although the upcoming events don’t show up on my phone for whatever reason (WP7.8). I realize I’m the only person with this phone, so it might not be worth fixing.
A simpler text response for use in wap browsers. (isvhsopen.com/plain)
SMS interface (voip.ms has a currently free sms service, that will cost 1 cent per message once they decide to start charging for it)
More and ical are done, I didn’t do the add event just because I think that can be covered in the “More” section. The calendar needs to be re-done on the website side and I feel that’s out of scope
I’ll be tracking how often internally the door is updated, if I don’t hear from a door within x hours i’ll display a “not sure” status
Done
I didn’t care for the “x minutes ago” so I switched it to the time it was open, either “4:30pm”, “Yesterday at 4:30pm”, “Sunday, 4:30pm” or “Sunday 29th” depending on how long ago it was opened.
Hey, is this done pretty much, or do you guys have something else in mind?
If it’s all finished, could someone get like a million pictures of the
enclosure? Outside, inside, closeups of the PCB, etc?
I’d like to write up a blog post (or someone more involved can if they
like) and submit it to HackaDay. More community people using it → more
cred / pull requests / etc
Yeah, it’s pretty much done. There’s certainly a number of desirable to-do’s but it’s all working currently as-is. Note that if you open the box, the front plate is pressure-fit and all the others are glued. The ribbon cable for the number pad is also quite short, so try to pull it out carefully before lifting away the front of the box. To get it off the wall, push it up a couple cm; it’s hanging on two screws. Don’t bother taking it apart while on the wall because it’ll be too awkward. Let me know if you have any questions about it. @bruce did the custom board and AVR programming, so he knows the most about that side of things.
Ont he hardware side. I mentioned this to @Shane before but I thought I would also put it here.
It would be nice to be able to write to the “open” clock via REST locally. The clock would be the “owner” of the “open” time while other devices could update this time. This would allow us to create other interfaces to the “open” time. For example a “Close right now” button or “add 1 hour” button. The REST API would only need to be accessible locally.
Done. On the VHS local network (when you are physically at the space), go to http://isvhsopen-spacetime/ and it describes how to open/close the space and change the time.
