Hi, I’m David and I just became a member of VHS today. I was on a tour of VHS last year; it just took a while for membership to bubble up to the top of my backlog of things to do.
My first interest is building a platform bed (I have already posted about this in the Projects category) and then some shelving in the wood shop. Have done some crude woodworking with hand tools and simple power tools but haven’t been in a wood shop since my junior high shop class days.
Then probably comes the fabric shop, because I need to install a stove jack in a tent so that I can start using the propane heater I designed and built last fall.
And if you know the significance of the sequence of letters and numbers I chose for my username then it won’t come as a big surprise that I will probably be making use of the electronics area at some point in the not too distant future.
The email you were sent when you signed up (or it may be a manually sent introductory email that you have not received yet) contains instructions on joining our slack workspace. You can also just log in on the vhs website, and the account management software (nomos) has a page called “get involved” and you can get your slack setup from there. Once on slack (generally more active and good for informal posts like this), post in newcomers, and join the woodworking and other channels you want.
