Introduction to Electronics & Arduino class (free!) Sunday, 2016-9-11

I will have Marginally Clever Robotic’s Arduino Starter Kits available, as well as a few other choice items.

The goal of this course is to give you the minimum you need to feel comfortable experimenting on your own with circuits. We will be looking at:

  • a brief word about VHS and MCR
  • basic circuits
  • breadboards
  • LEDs
  • voltage & amperage
  • arduino 101
  • how to read resistor color codes
  • how to read a schematic diagram
  • sensors
  • servo motors
  • and more if there’s time

Please download and install arduino software on your laptop before you bring your laptop to the event. More time for fun stuff!

Seating is limited to TEN humans. Please reply below if you want to reserve a seat.

Hey, I’d like to take part in this. I’m not a member yet but I will be as soon as I can afford it.

I would like to sign up for this

EIGHT LEFT.

Next time I run this it’ll be a meetup with a cover charge to pay the meetup fee.
Would eventbright or Brown Paper Tickets be better?

Count me in!

Quinn and I are in (can count us as one).

There is now a Meetup event for this class. Please RSVP there to keep the count simple.

And the advanced session immediately following

I was planning to RSVP but I don’t have a laptop. Can I just partner up with someone? (Any volunteer?) I have an arduino and can work on things at home afterwards.

Having just sold a big batch of ASKs to a local school, I have only four Arduino Starter Kits at the moment. So seating is way way down for the into class from 1-3.

Yeah I can’t make this class today, sorry. I was looking to spend $30 on a basic arduino, if I gotta buy the whole kit to participate then I’m priced way out.

There might still be arduinos available in the vending machine at VHS (can anyone verify for us?), and you can also find them at RP Electronics. Note that they’re in Burnaby near Gilmore Skytrain Station. They moved recently. Unfortunately they price the Arduino Uno at around $50. Lee’s Electronics is normally another option, but they’re closed on Sundays.

You don’t have to have the kit, but it sure helps. Either way, it will be educational. You may be able to team up with someone who has a kit to get the same experience for less. …and there’s a morse code / decode tutorial that can ONLY be done with at least two arduinos.

Hi Dan

Is the morse code/decode proprietary or is there a URL with more details?

Kind Regards

Ian
