Hi, I'm Somewhat New

Hi, I’m Michelle.
I graduated from 3D animation as a rigging specialist at Capilano University.
I also have a background in computer science at SFU.
I also was at UBC prior as a Sauder School of Business student.
I transfered from Business to Computer Science a while back. I formally graduated at Capilano University for Film and Games Diploma.

For those who are curious about the timeline:
2011 - 2014 University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business
2017 - 2019 Simon Fraser University, Computing Science
2020 - 2024 Capilano University, Film and Games Diploma

Anyways,
I’ve been at the Hackspace for 2 years. I am registered as a member as of April 2026.
I am aware of being a keyholder, but I’m not sure what that exactly means.

Question:
Is it possible to access Hackspace at all hours?

As of right now, I am looking for a place to study and work.

Thank you

Hey Michelle.

The keyholder status/process is described below. But basically after being a member for one month you make a post on Talk applying to be a keyholder and you’ll need three people to vouch for you and confirm that they have shown you how to open and close the space and then you’ll be given a keyholder account and can come and go anytime you want.

You can see other people’s keyholder applications to get a sense of what to write (picture of yourself to remind people who you are, mentions of what you’ve been doing, how you’ve contribued to the space, etc).

I will look into other people’s keyholder applications.

Thank you again!
