Help with buying things from Taobao

Hello

I am about to place an order for small hinges from Taobao. Its instantly cheap, too cheap to be real. I was hoping someone that has ordered from Taobao in the past could help me out ( @TomKeddie, @rsim, ??? ) . I read the notes that @TomKeddie made a few months ago on buying things from Taobao.

I have selected some items that I want to buy, What do I do next?

All of these items come from the same suppler “Flying Hardware

Register an account, add your Canada address, on checkout it will offer consolidators - shipping seems to be about $CA30 first kg, $6 per extra 500g. With Taobao shipping kills the deal frequently (especially on heavy metal stuff).

Gorgeous hinges BTW.

(you pay shipping twice, once per seller to the warehouse of the consolidator, once per shipment to you. The domestic shipping is usually around CNY15 or about $CA3).

Much of the javascript on the site can’t copy with google translate. You’ll often need to read the translation, click show original and then click the control you want. I have to do this for stuff like add to cart and adding addresses. Think of it as a sport rather than a chore.

@funvill, you can also consolidate to Hong Kong very cheaply, perhaps you friends can help you out? Shipping is generally expensive - I was shocked to see it now costs $70+ to send 5kg by sea from Aus, I remember this was like $20 last time.

I added my cousin in HK as a shipping address and it gave me lots of consolidation options.
