The weathers getting nice, the bears are coming out of hibernation and so am I. Anyone interested in a hiking and hacking event after may long weekend? I was thinking of hiking the Diez Vistas trail at buntzen lake or Eagles Bluff on Cypress mtn or any other suggestions. Basically we would just be hiking while socializing about what were currently hacking. If anyone has hacked or modified any of their outdoor equipment and want to test it out, this would be a great opportunity. I may try to snag a gps and play around with it. Let me know if anyone is interested
Yes! I am in. I dont have much hacking to do/show but i love hiking.
EDIT actually I’ll bring along my beer can alcohol stove. Should be good for laughs. Tea may only be Luke warm.
Totally interested in outdoors stuff, I do that occasionally
Awesome. Any other suggestions for hikes anyone? If not, I will post when I get back from SF makerfaire unless anyone else wants to post
No suggestions, but I like this idea! I need motivation to get out hiking.
I look forward to your next post.
So I haven’t done the Grouse Grind in probably a decade. It’s not actually a good hike at all, but I feel like I need a recent laptime, just as a personal benchmark.
I will probably hike it after work sometime in the next couple weeks.
Hi Jarett,
Good idea. I can join on the weekends but not during the week. I am
pretty slow and will prob slow you down… I usually do the bcmc trail
beside the grind. Its 10 minutes more but less crowded and the trail is
less groomed. Also, I can take my dog with me - I cant take my dog on the
grind…

I’m planning on a nite hike to Dog Mountain to watch meteorites tonite - leaving town at 6:00pm
Have space in car for 3 passengers
Just sent you a PM
What a great idea Farrell. Just got the email. The Royal Astronomical
Society is hosting an event tonight at Aldergrove Regional Park. Im tented
out here tonight. We should all plan to do this next year.
Attached is photo of the setup
Last night was absurd!!! Ide estimate 10 000+ folk turned up - we arrived
at 7:30 - hiked to the end and back and left at 11:00 PM to make sure we
could get out at which stage even the lower parking was full!
Your tonite is a much better bet I assume
It’s that time of the year again to venture out at night with a full moon in the snow (I know it’s not quite here yet!)
As before we will meet at the North end of the Mt Seymour Resort parking lot - at 7:00pm on Tuesday 13th December. The hike is about a 1hr trip to Dog Mountain where we will have Hot Chocolate and some snacks
Closer to the date I will post a recommended list of gear/clothing etc for those that have not done this before.
For those with dogs - this is a dog friendly hike - and they really enjoy the trip too.
RSVP to help with planning for refreshments and perhaps ride-sharing.
I’ve also invited the “Modo Crew” so we already have some 10 folk coming along.
Hi Farrell,
I marked this in my calendar. I cant confirm yet cause I usually work Tuesday nights. My dog and I really enjoyed the hike last year. Will let u know
I’m in again, was a good time last year
