Not sure if you guys are familiar with Bunnie Huang, but he has recently launched a project to crowd fund a ‘shopping helper’ book for the Shenzhen market. He’s done some great stuff, and spoken at length on enabling Makers to utilize Chinese production. Thought it might be of interest to you folks:
