Out of personal experience, I recommend not trying to give preference based on how early someone responded. I know that sounds bad, but it becomes a huge logistics nightmare for the trainer. Given Bill/other trainers are doing this out of their goodwill, please do what is easiest.
I personally found selecting a few days, putting them on eventbrite and just opening it up was a great way to go. Also, charge a few bucks to cover materials.
