Gluing and Finishing of Oily Hardwoods

For every woodworker’s info:

Gluing Oily Tropical Hardwoods | The Wood Database.

As the article states, you may have had success gluing some of these with aliphatic glue, but that doesnt mean that it is guaranteed to have full strength every time.

And many of these oily woods can also pose a challenge for reactive finishes like polyurethane to fully cure over.

Hope this info is valuable!

looks like I can confirm this might be a thing. this glue joint failed on me… just didn’t bond very well and I have a few extra places where I need to try and glue it back down.

I did also use a glue roller this time - usually i just apply excessive amounts of glue with a brush.

Sorry to hear Phil
