FOSS Conference this August and pre-event March 22

Hi I’m Tracy, one of the people organizing Free and Open Source Software Yearly (FOSSY), a conference taking place at UBC this August, moving from Portland where it has happened the past 3 years. FOSSY is run by Software Freedom Conservancy (where I work) and generally attracts 250-300 people each year. Not sure if any of you are FOSS nerds but it’s a fun time - similar style to FOSDEM but much smaller!

There is a pre-event my colleague (who is local to Vancouver) is doing to promote FOSSY, happening next Sunday (March 22). Here are the details:

He’ll be doing a short talk but mainly it’s a chance to meet with other people who plan to attend, and talk about different ways to promote.

Registration is not open yet for the main conference, but more info will be posted on the site soon: 2026.fossy.ca

((Unrelatedly, I also help run a hackerspace in my hometown - Knoxville, TN (knoxmakers.org) and I am really excited to visit you while I’m in the area.))
