I currently have open hours on the calendar for every other Sunday from 1pm - 5pm. That’s August 10th, August 24th, September 7th, etc.
If anybody would like help with sewing or embroidery, I am happy to help
during my open hours ![]()
Reminder: we don’t actually require training for using the sewing or embroidery
machines. You can find info and manuals on the wiki:
tool:sewing_machines [Vancouver Hack Space]
Basic stuff I can help with:
- Finding stuff in the sewing area
- Basic operation of sewing machines
- Basic operation of the serger
- Embroidery: how to hoop fabric and thread the machine
Embroidery Workshop:
- Intro to Inkscape vector software and Ink/Stitch embroidery plugin
- Overview of various options and feature in Ink/Stitch
- Some time to create a design
- Hoop your fabric, thread the machine, and embroider your design
I can run the workshop for 1-4 people at a time. It takes about 2 hours,
and I charge a minimal fee of $10, half of which goes to the hackspace.
Please bring a laptop if you have one.

If you want to do a workshop, please reply to this message with your
preferred date & time. (If Sunday afternoons don’t work for you, I can usually
make it in on a weekday evening, but not more than once a week or so.)
For general sewing help, you can just find me during my open hours, or message me
to let me know to expect you, either way.
