Donating batteries to VHS

I have 19 unused, high energy-density, smart Lithium Ion Batteries and three chargers. They are all in their original packaging and boxes. The model is NC2040 by Inspired Energy (see links below). It looks like the current selling price of all these batteries is around $3000… crazy!

They were left for me by a friend who was leaving the country. I really don’t have any use for them right now, and they aren’t selling on craigslist or ebay. It would seem a huge waste just to recycle them. Can I donate these batteries to the hack space, so they don’t go to waste? If so, how do I go about doing that? Can I just bring the boxes to the space sometime when it’s open, or do I have to find an individual to give them to?

Bring em by, they can either end up in the 3 week system (goes to recycling in 3 weeks if nobody else grabs them) or someone will file them onto a shelf. The more info you can provide in the forms of data sheet /specs printed out and with there batteries, the more likely they are to be used. If you post here and make a sign in the space, they’ll likely go to a (few) good homes. I might take one

These would make some crazy portable flashlights… I’m thinking burning man…

Awesome. Thanks for the reply, Rob. I will print out the data sheets and drop them off next weekend.

They would make some pretty amazing flashlights, to be sure! Would also probably be great in an RC car, robot, or a full set of homemade laser tag suits!
