Cloud chamber for particle detector, Peltier cooler setup help rqd

I would like to get a box 10 by 18 by 30 inches of three quarter acrilic down to minus 40, have alcohol evaporate in it and shine light in it.

I hear peltier coolers are good to about -17 but you can stack them. Lost from there. power supply, do I need a radiator like coil on the bottom or, can I use water outside the box as a heat sink, ect,

There is talk of a muen detector (too hard) and dry ice (too simple)

Where do get get my hands on them and how to use them is where help would be appreciated

I’ve only seen cloud chambers use dry ice. If it aint broke dont fix it.

for the Peltiers, you will require 10’s of amps, at 12V and lower (when you stack them, top one has the lowest voltage, increasing voltage as you go lower), and then the pump for the cooling loop for the bottom Peltier, and you will still require regular ice for said cooling loop… A big messy thing, I speak from experience.

Stick to the dry ice, as Adam stated.

I noticed TRIUMF has a cloud chamber in their front lobby that runs
continuously.
I wonder what they use for cooling?

Dual stages, two compressors? Like the one that was being rebuilt at Science World?..
