Cleaning on Monday Aug 24th,

I am cleaning up on Monday Aug 24th in preparation for The 100 Day Project Vancouver Global Meetup.

If you leave your project on the main tables it will be tossed in the three week bin. If you leave your projects on the nokia benches, it will be tossed into the three week bins. If you leave consumables without your Name and DATE on them they MAY be moved or tossed in to the three week bin or into the trash. If you want to store your project at the space GET A LOCKER otherwise take it home with you. If you want to store a larger project then fits in your locker. Ask first on talk.

I am asking The hackery to pick up the three week bins this weekend, so all the new stuff that >I< toss into the three bins on Monday should be there for a few weeks in-case you want to recover it. Unless some else takes it home before you get to it.

Hrmmmm… I remember this one time someone did something similar to you…

What it left on the main tables table? Nope,
Did they give a chance for it to be picked up? Nope.
Did they post on TALK? Nope

Clean up YOUR shit/stuff. (The general “your” not yours specific shit/stuff)

You trying to stir up shit or something?

I’m easily provoked, and hella good at being provocative, but I don’t start shit.
I respond to troll threads/proposals/threats, but I’m not making 'em.

No, I’m not trying to stir shit up. Why? Do you need some help?

Thank you!

I think Skynet is starting to self-assemble in those bins.

The table / flat surface area near the entrance tends to accumulate a lot of detritus as well, which I don’t think makes for the best first impressions. If they were cleaned off over the weekend, I think that would be a good thing.

What would be even better (imo) would be having less flat surface area near the entrance, since it seems to be hard to get the people into the space past the fans and the things. But maybe that’s a separate discussion.

You guys are good for a laugh.
I agree things need to be cleaned up. It is the dramatic approach which is quite funny.

But NOT all of the 3 week bins should be emptied at once. It defeats the 3
steps of the 3 week bins.

Generally I’d agree, but the 3 week bins haven’t moved in at least the last month. Maybe ditch only two of them? Or all three, as a one-time reboot to the circulatory system. I’m fine with whatever.

 I’ll be sure to give @funvill a hand and help clean the space.

Yeah, I’m with @bruce on this one.

I had actually done a bit of cleaning last night, before I saw this thread. The first person in today should at least appreciate it.

We have not recycled the 3 week bins in months, So they are overflowing into each other. We can’t empty the 1st or 2nd week bins because the 3rd week bin is too full.

Woot. Including the drill bits in the shop area ?

I called the Hackery and they only do picks up on Wednesday during the day. I am looking for alternative transport to remove it this weekend.

Another reorganize the space thread might be good.

Those bins are well picked over. Seems mostly junky now. I’d be happy to
see the lot go to the hackery.

No, somebody else took care of that.

It was just messy pretty much everywhere.
The chill-out area table had a bunch of clutter and cables on it so I cleaned that.
I made half-ass cardboard covers for the recycling bins because of all the god damn fruit flies (I murdered most of them with windex though).
Windex’d the main table surfaces with a scotchbrite pad so they are pretty damn clean.
Crafting table was messy, well the area around it was so I just quickly reorganized shit so you could walk around it.
And last week I put a new roll of white wax paper at the end of the crafting table, which is much nicer then the plastic we had before. (The roll of paper at the end is really handy if you are working with glue/epoxy/resins or other sticky stuff and you need a clean/oil free/dust free surface)
The workshop area had a bunch of tools out on the workbench, and so I put away most of them then did a half-ass vacuum around it. (Who ever has been leaving that mess in the workshop is making me really unimpressed.)

Ditto. Every time I’ve been in the last few weeks it’s been a disaster and I’ve had to put away drills, jigsaws, orbital sanders, screw drivers/misc tools, and sweep, vacuum, etc. Every. Time. It’s completely unacceptable.

Thank you very much for doing it this time Tom - I did notice that it was in a much better state than previous times!

@toma, make sure to move your antenna gimbal project off the table and out of the way, either above the lockers or onto a less-used shelf. Perhaps on top of the oscilloscopes or above the laser cutter plywood storage.

@funvill, don’t touch his project. Everyone knows the giant antenna thing is @toma’s, that he’s been working on it regularly, and that it doesn’t fit in a locker, and I don’t think it’s practical for him to transport it between VHS and home. He cleans up after himself and the fact that it stays at the space is not a significant burden.

Yep, no worries, that was not my intention.

I did a cleaning of the shop tonight. My bad on leaving out the orbital sander and the drill earlier this week, sorry about that.

I plan to build a couple small storage organization things for the workshop over the coming weeks.

I’ll be in on Monday to help clean up the shop in more detail and discuss how we might rearrange some stuff to promote a clean workspace.

@funvill What time will you be at VHS on Monday? If I am available, I’ll come help

I am tethered to my house until Sleep Country delivers a mattress (Never buy from them, they are bad people). I will head down after that. So some time between 2pm and 5pm i will head down there for the whole night.

I will update this thread when I head down there.

Thank you @hectorh for helping!
Thank you @stu for cleaning up the shop!

The place looks great!
I went down there last night for some last min laser cutting and found the place to be in great shape! Thank you @stu, @hectorh and @toma. I wish the place looked this good all the time. I got a ride to remove the 3 week bins tonight.

@hectorh I will be down there at 5 pm today. The place looks great,
Thanks guys, I don’t have to spend the entire day cleaning.

I’ll be there around 6pm
