A member reached out, but it may apply to more of you… If your work has a volunteer engagement program, like “for every x hours you volunteer, we will make a donation / give you time off / etc,” building LipSyncs totally counts. Some systems request you associate it to a charity, and Makers Making Change is part of Neil Squire, CRA #864366174RR0001.
So take credit for your amazing work. I picked up a bunch of LipSyncs out of my tote late last week and we’ll QC them asap. A couple more already requested at a spinal cord injury unit in Winnipeg. Thanks for all your help!
Thanks for that info about volunteer engagement programs – have passed the info on to a few friends in big tech. And also great to hear some are going to that Winnipeg spinal cord injury unit. Wewt!
So - for the MMC blog post about the Lipsync build - do we have some good pics of the space that I can send to Austin (the MMC writer). Anyone got those? @xquared?
Edit: or other pics we’d like to send for possible inclusion. So far we have one of Mimi with lipsyncs, and a few others of the completed prints and lipsyncs. Thanks!
Go Go Go Team VHS! Thanks to everyone that worked on these and supported making this happen. Also thanks a bunch Chad and everyone at MMC for this opportunity and article about VHS.
I wrote up a blog post about VHS Team LipSync with some very lovely things that Chad said about us. Thanks @xquared, @dbynoe, and @winegummo for the pics!
“VHS has always been very supportive of MMC, which we’ve appreciated very much. When I put out a call for help making assistive devices, I was overwhelmed by their ingenuity and selflessness. Skilled makers can have a tremendous impact on the lives of people with disabilities.” — Chad Leaman, program founder.
Read on for more. Thanks Chad. Let us know how the LipSync supplies are holding up.
I just heard from @DerrickA4mag that our LipSync builds are the best of any group. Wewt! Go Team Hackspace!!!
I’ve also asked him to post here if there is any feedback that would improve our builds (as I’m sure we’ll do more LipSyncs at some point). We might as well catch stuff in the build process if possible before it hits the hands of MMC QA.
