Hope to see you again this year at VIVO’s annual fundraising party, March 27.
Everyone’s invited to project their stuff. Read below for details.
There’s also an Intro to Game Making workshop, so you can make a video game and then project it for all to play!
BYOB: Bring Your Own Beamer Call for Submissions!
Thursday, February 27 12am-Friday, March 20, 2020 12pm
VIVO Media Arts Centre presents our fourth edition of Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB) our annual fundraiser conceived by Dutch-Brazilian artist Rafaël Rozendaal. BYOB is a one-night only event where artists display their video or film work using their own projector. Formats of all varieties will be presented simultaneously, across the walls of VIVO’s 2,000 square foot studio space, backed by a crowd-sourced soundtrack and DJ performances.
This year we are especially interested in work that is interactive, preformative, or engages with an audience. This could mean anything from a video game to a live skype call or drawing on an overhead projector! We want to showcase your technological art experiments, sensors, motion detectors, generative video works, mass air drop video projections, video ping pong, expanded 16mm cinema, DIY video hacks, toy projectors, furby projections, visual surprises or whatever you can conceive!
ARTIST SIGN UP!
If you would like to present as a participating artist, please email info@vivomediaarts.com by 12pm on March 20th with the following :
• Your name and contact info
• Social media handles so we can showcase your practice
• A brief description of the work and how you plan to project or install it
Participating artists are asked to install their projector, media player, and video file between 6:00pm – 7:30pm on the night of the event.
Please note projectors cannot be mounted to the ceiling and artists must provide their own technical support.
Don’t have a projector but want to participate? Extreme discounts on projector rentals will be provided for members. If you would like to rent a projector please let us know in your sign up email.
Want to participate but unsure where to start? We have a workshop on accessible game making on March 18th, no previous experience required! Any works created can be shown during BYOB. Register here → https://gamemaking.eventbrite.ca
