For laser projects, I’ve been trying to ween myself off of Adobe Illustrator and onto Fusion360. I know, I know… It’s just that I rely on BoxMaker for many of my projects, and it outputs a PDF, not a 3D file. So Illustrator has been a natural tool for modifying it prior to cutting.
So over the last week I built a new BoxMaker plugin for Fusion360!
There are still some features I need to add, but it is usable! Check it out:
Not if you made the model parametric. You could just open the parameters,
and change what you want. If I had the time, I’d play with it, but life has
gotten much busier as of Monday night for me.
Interesting idea! I don’t really know anything practical about parametric CAD so I’m not too motivated to do it this way. I still count myself as a Fusion360 novice. But I think I can see the potential benefits.
Right now this script just takes the parameters, does some math, and makes the shapes. But the shapes are not parametrically related to anything once they’re created. If they were and you could adjust parameters without recreating the whole box, that would be a big improvement.
