The suite/basement/whatever we were looking at renting when we first arrive in Vancouver is not available - the current renters want to extend their stay until July. Its about the only place I could find in our budget that looked like I could setup my computer/screens (full tower + Dell 30" next to Samsung 27"). I’m hoping someone here might run a business, know a business or work for a business that is in a position to help me out
We land in Vancouver on the 26th Jan, and I’ll be working from home for a month or two, we’re hoping to find our own 2 bedroom rental with a long term lease within a month of arriving, so I only need space for 4-5 weeks. I’m looking for a desk with at least 1.2metres of surface area for screens that I can rent for at most $400 a month, ideally more like $200/month or less in a clean, quiet office. I know its a pretty big ask. I only really need to be working 30hrs or so a week for my client, so I’ll have some extra time if I can help out your business in any way.
I’m not too fussed about location.
I design RF electronics (Altium DXP), unmanned aircraft (SolidWorks), work in .NET (VS.NET 2013) and will be doing tablet apps on Telerik’s AppBuilder platform for displaying telemetry from BluetoothLE.
I will supply my own computer, chair (i have back/neck issues), powercables, etc… i just need a bare desk. It can be in an office, warehouse condo, your basement.
Check out the Hive space: you can pay for a hotdesk or a permanent desk and connect with interesting people.

Thanks bobster, that place does look really cool - except its $475/mo with a 3 month minimum which will eat most of the extra funds I was hoping to have. I could probably cope with it for a single month but not 3.
The hot desk option doesnt look to be vaild as I wouldnt be able to leave my computer setup (and doesnt really look any cheaper).
If you are looking for something month to month.
Along broadway near pine, cypress, you can rent small single room offices, for about 500 for an office big enough to fit 2 people at a desk. Howe St, near Davey you can rent an office about the same size for about 700.
If you are looking for cheap office space check out real state companies, they are holding a lot of office property in prime locations. And prefer month to month over long term leases.
Thanks tdwebste, do you have any contact details/website for the small single room offices you mentioned? I imagine an actual office is going to be more expensive than using someone elses space right?

Just found this website, the new westminster location looks pretty perfect. Whistler looks like a whole lot more fun - ski in, ski out office… doesnt sound like much work gets done there haha.
Ah ha! Now I have found out it’s called Coworking there are heaps of places in Vancouver
Thanks for getting me on the right rack guys!
