Amulet Hotkey

Who knows about the Amulet Hotkey DXR4-iP that is set up on the soldering bench? Looks like a very cool setup, I’d like to know more about it.

@toma was pretty proud of his (admittedly super-cool) setup.

it IS supercool. I think I gathered that the Amulet is a thin client
for the black box on the 3d printer table?

Is it a straight redirect over the network similar to using RDP to sign in or can the host support multiple users the same way?

It goes over the network, you can have multiple devices on there.
There is also a software client for windows and mac.

Sorry, what i’m getting at is can this be used to host multiple users simultaneously? If I were to set this up on my wife’s system as her main system, for example, would I be able to jump in and use it on the rare occasion I need a windows machine while she is logged in and working or would it boot her like RDP does?

No. For what you want to accomplish I’d just patch RDP to allow concurrent users and RDP into it while shes using it.

So other than the cool factor and not needing to have the desktop at the
workstation, what is the draw to doing PCoiP? would the ideal usecase be
individually accessing multiple VMs on a server for hotdesking and that
kind of thing?

Naw, more accessing badass hardware, and not having that hardware anywhere near you. Keep your big gaming rig in the shed where it’s cold, and the heat keeps the rust off your lawnmower.

@toma I got you a pile of those DVI Y cables. I grabbed 6, is that enough?

Yeah, I think that should cover it.
