Aluminium section group buy? 2020=$8.82/m 2040=$15.40/m

He’s in to pick it up. Do you mind if I order it so it’s on my name, that way my friend won’t be asking who’s Tom? I offered him a six pack of cider.

For reference next time, orders are in lengths of 4m to avoid cut fee.

Is there any trick to cutting it?

I have something like one of these for my chop saw.

http://www.amazon.ca/D1080N-Diablo-10-Inch-Non-Ferrous-PermaShield/dp/B00008WQ38

Is super loud and should be used with lubricant.

Make sure you clamp the material down securely before you cut it with the chop saw, especially the larger sizes. Unlike wood, even the slightest movement during cutting can destroy your $70+ dollar blade, possibly even damage your chopsaw and require a change of undergarments. DAMHIKT…

I believe we have a metal cutting horizontal bandsaw at the hackspace. Slower, quieter and safer but not as clean or accurate a cut as the chopsaw.

Oh good, I haven’t missed this yet!

I’m in for:

  • 13082 self-aligning roll-in T-nut with ball spring
  • 25 @ M3
  • 13084 self-aligning roll-in T-nut with ball spring
  • 100 @ M5
  • 20-2020
  • 2 x 380mm
  • 4 x 1m
  • Total: 4760mm + 6 cuts
  • 20-2040
  • 1 x 53mm
  • 4 x 150mm
  • 3 x 500mm
  • 4 x 1m
  • Total: 6153mm + 12 cuts
  • 20-4040
  • 2 x 425mm
  • 2 x 1m
  • Total: 2850mm + 4 cuts

If that’s too much for the order, I can drop all the 1m lengths (or just the 1m lengths of 4040) and/or the t-nuts.

@rsim sorry we ordered already! Talk to @hectorh he might be able to pick up a second order (more alcohol for his friend perhaps?).

Best to order in 4m lengths and cut them at my place, with all those small cuts the cut fees will add up.

@rsim, I can probably still alter the order today. Can you confirm you want:

25 * 13082 ( M3 )
100 * 13084 ( M5 )

rounding up the cuts because they are ±5mm

20-2020 4m
20-2020 770mm with 1 cut

20-2040 4m
20-2040 2155mm with 1 cut

20-4040 2860mm with 1 cut

@rsim just checked, I can get the modification to the order up to tomorrow morning 10am, so if you confirm today, I’ll be able to include it in our order.

No problem, I’ve placed the order myself. FYI freight to Vancouver is only $18, so I’m just getting my order delivered to my office.

If you guys need T nut’s or metric fasteners we’ve got quite a few as our Kossel kit uses 2020.

One of our guys is heading out to visit you next week we could drop some off.

Sure, M5 please. let me know how much.

We’ve got 5mm and 3mm available. It’s $4.50 for 100. (Sorry for the super slow reply!)

Cool. I’ll get 100 of each thanks.

Me too me too,

100 of each.
When do you plan to be at VHS next?

We talked at the Maker Faire 101 about the 2020 rails that you had.
Do you have any more information about them? Price, drawings, etc…

I’ll put you in touch with David, he’s the one bringing in stuff for us. He’ll be going back to China in the coming month so now is a good time to talk to him! One of our members is working out at UBC right now, so I’ll see if I can get him to drop them off some time next week.

Sorry, I’m new to this, @FVMakersJason can you post pictures (or links) to the hardware that you have? Thanks!

The T nut’s are identical to these

On Ali they’re listed at 50 cents for 10 and that’s USD. So it’d be about $6.25 CAD plus shipping. Our price is $4.50 here BUT I made a mistake in that’s our cost landed. We normally try to make a couple of bucks (for the space, none of this goes to individuals). So we’re asking $10 per 100 (which is still way less than anyone local or e-bay).

Let me know if you’re still interested in them.

Here are the dimensions on the extrusion we bring in.

I have to double check the extrusion because of the dollar going nuts these last couple of months. But I think we can currently do $8 a meter all in. We currently only have stock in 30cm length’s, we could start bringing in full length pieces and cut to order if there was a regular demand.
