A 2 part series! If you’re interested in replica props, designer toys, custom jewelry or fine arts, come learn how to turn a 3D print into an army of resin cast parts! You don’t NEED to attend both workshops, but we’ll be using the parts we finish in part 1 to mold in part 2.
What: Come learn the basics of finishing 3D printed parts to get them ready for silicone molding and casting. You’ll be given a small extrusion 3D printed model and we’ll go through different techniques for cleaning it up, sculpting new detail and smoothing it out. All tools and materials will be provided.
How Much:
Part 1 - $40, this will cover the 3D printed part, a can of filler primer spray paint, a tube of spot putty, some basic sculpting tools, rubber gloves and sandpaper. All these supplies will be MORE than you need to finish this piece, so you can go home and do it again with your own design.
Part 2 - $40, this will cover the 3D printed part, enough silicone to make your 1 part mold, and enough resin to cast one or two copies.
Who: Brought to you by Michael Taylor of RocketManProps.com
Where: Vancouver Hackspace
When:
Part 1 - 2PM- 4PM Saturday May 7th
Part 2 - 2PM- 4PM Saturday May 14th
Why: Looking to start an Etsy store? Always wanted to cast your own Vinyl Toys? Want to replicate something for a Cosplay? Molding and casting has endless possibilities, come learn how to duplicate your custom design into an army of resin casts!
