I’ll be running a few wood pen making workshops again this fall. Wooden pens are easy to make and are unique, inexpensive Christmas presents.
I’ve run these workshops in the past at the hackspace (the old bunker) and in my home shop. Due to space/resource limitations at VHS and lack of proper insurance at my own shop, I’ll be running them at MakerLab. The first workshop will be Sunday, Nov. 1st at 2pm. The workshop fee will include all materials required to turn a wood pen which participants will leave with. The workshop will be limited to 6 participants who will each have their own lathe and tools to use.
If you are interested in participating please reserve your spot at Event Organizer: Become an Event Hosting Legend | Eventbrite . The workshop should appear on the MakerLab event schedule within the next couple of days. Those who have attended my pen making workshops in the past can attest to how easy and fun the workshops are.

Due to some scheduling issues at MakerLab, this workshop has been rescheduled for this Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2pm. There are still some seats available.
My partner and I really want to come to this, but alas we are busy for the weekend. I’ll watch out for the next one!
The first workshop last Saturday went really well. The next pen making workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21st. If you would like to attend you can register here:
For those who might like to attend one of the Pen Turning Workshop but are turned off by the MakerLabs Non-Member rate, I spoke to the folks at MakerLabs and they are perfectly ok with VHS Members signing up at the MakerLabs Members’ rate. I hope to be running them every two weeks for the next couple of months.

The next Pen Turning Workshop at MakerLabs will be this Saturday, Dec. 5th at 2pm. This will likely be the last workshop before Christmas so, if you would like to make some wooden pens for Christmas presents, be sure to sign up at Event Organizer: Become an Event Hosting Legend | Eventbrite
MakerLabs are graciously allowing VHS members to sign up at the MakerLabs members’ rate.

I did the last one and it was both very fun and very informative. I would highly recommend this course!
