Weatherproof 18650 battery holder for bike lights

As per my previous thread my obsession with all things 18650 continues. This time I’ve two dead bike lights from aliexpress with bad batteries in them. I wired them for external power and built an 18650 holder from pvc pipe. With some spring/plate shims between them I think you could make multi-cell batteries using this technique.

The base with the spring attached is embedded in the bottom cap with a pool of silicone sealant that also attempts to seal the wire entry. The blue wire goes up beside the battery to the cap, there is a cutout in the base to allow it up the side.

The cap is similar to the base, it’s narrow at the top to fit into a recess on the threaded cap.

The end result will hopefully last a while.

The goal is to improve my visibilty at 45 degree angles for vehicles approaching from either side.

Neat! Just needs a black paint job to go with that nice bike!
