Hi all,
Emily Smith is organizing a series of events through Vancouver New Music and VIVO, and she’s inviting VHS to partner and participate:
In partnership with Vancouver New Music, we’re hosting a series of workshops and events at VIVO. We would love to include VHS in the programming and do some cross promotion. Some of the events that we’re doing include:
- Ladies Hacking Nights, Tuesday and Thursday October 13th and 15th, 7-10pm. $75. Cost includes the Atari Punk Console Kit. No previous electronics experience required. (max 7 students)
- Screening of Nicolas Collins’ Handmade Electronic Music, Wednesday, October 14th, 7-10pm. Event by donation.
- Intro to Circuit Bending: A drop-in session covering all aspects needed to get started with circuit bending, from prying open your first case to putting the knobs on a completed project. Bring 1 or 2 circuits to bend and any parts or modifying elements that you would like to use. (By Donation)
- BENT Exhibition: November 7th. Doors at 7pm. Lots of past VHS members will be participating and exhibiting in the event(s) including Tyson Haverkort, Ryan Smith (aka Goldfish), Vincent van Haaff, Chris Hixon, David Leith, and others (including me) .
It would be awesome if we could do some sort of media sponsorship related to the event. IE: We feature VHS’ logo on our poster, and a blog post, in exchange for a mention on the VHS mailing list.
Emily has also suggested that we could host some workshops at VHS, and that someone from VHS could speak at their events.
What do folks think?
